Under the direct supervision of Child Protection Specialist, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  1. Supports to programme development and planning
  • Participates throughout the process of planning and preparation to provide inputs and support to Child Protection Programmes using results-based planning methodology (RBM).
  • Assists in preparation of relevant documentations for programme review and approval.

  1. Programmemonitoring and delivery of results
  • Participates in monitoring and evaluation exercises, programme mid-year and end-year reviews with government and counterparts to assess progress and to determine required actions to achieve results.
  • Provides support to monitor Child Protection programmes through monthly data collection and analysis on key child protection indicators (SMQs and RAM) using national surveys, current research, programme reports, field visit reports etc.

  1. Technical and operational support to programme implementation
  • Facilitate and arrange for programme meetings including programme development and planning, support to administrative tasks as required.
  • Assists in drafting of relevant meeting minutes, briefs, power points and other strategic programme materials for management use, information and dissemination.

  1. Knowledge Management
  • Supports the development of Child Protection Section designated page and related folders on UNICEF Enterprise Management System (sharepoint) in collaboration with the SPERE focal person and Child Protection Team. Support migration of data/resources as well as on-site support to promote collaboration platforms for increased usuage by Child Proection Team for joint planning and programming purposes.
  • Assists in compiling contribution to the UNICEF HQ and ROSA E-bulletins and other requests for subsmissions.

  1. Innovation and knowledge management
  • Helps roll-out of U Report within the Child Protection Programme.

Furthermore, UN Youth Volunteers are required to:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Youth Volunteers;
  • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • A first university degree in anthropology, Social Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Education, or another Human Development related field and an advanced university degree in a relevant field is required.

  • At least two years of professional work experience at national level in the field of child rights and/or knowledge management is required.   • Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
  • Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and local languages is required;
  • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;
  • Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others).

Sous l'autorité du Chef de Bureau et Représentant de l’UNESCO au Gabon, et sous la supervision directe du Coordonnateur du projet, le Volontaire des Nations Unies contribuera à la mise en œuvre du projet en s’acquittant, entre autres, des tâches suivantes :

  • Participer à l’élaboration des spécifications techniques des équipements et logiciels informatiques à acquérir ;
  • Installer, configurer et administrer les équipements de l’Equipe de coordination du Projet aux normes des nouvelles technologies de l’information et de la communication, comme indiqué par les règles, les règlements et procédures standard en vigueur à l’UNESCO ;
  • Planifier et assurer la mise en place effective des équipements et systèmes informatiques nécessaires à l’exécution du Projet ;
  • Elaborer et faire appliquer la stratégie et les directives de sauvegarde, d’archivage, de sécurité des données ainsi que de mise à jour ;
  • Effectuer un rapport trimestriel sur l’inventaire des équipements de la Coordination du Projet, du matériel informatique et faire des recommandations sur l’état du parc ;
  • Définir et mettre en œuvre un plan de gestion proactive et réactive des incidents informatiques ;
  • Définir la politique d’utilisation, de maintenance et de remplacement des équipements au sein de la Coordination du Projet ;
  • Définir le plan de prévention et de récupération en cas des sinistres et assurer, le cas échéant, sa mise en œuvre ;
  • Veiller au respect des termes des licences logicielles acquises dans le cadre du Projet ;
  • Elaborer selon que de besoin et à la demande du Coordonnateur de Projet, le rapport sur l’état des équipements et logiciels ;
  • Exécuter toute autre tâche que le Coordonnateur de Projet jugera nécessaire en vue de la réalisation effective de différentes activités et l’atteinte des résultats escomptés pour le Projet.

Under the supervision of Private Partnerships Specialist, the UNV Private Partnerships Associate will:

Communication for Private Sector donor Visibility and Trust Building

  • Organize and participate in communication/content production missions in the field (storytelling, photography and video recording) to produce content mainly for private sector donors, human interest stories, and produce ad hoc requests by private sector partners/donors;
  • Create, edit, repurpose and publish a wide variety of engaging content for digital channels, using audiovisual products (videos, photos, newsletters etc.) targeting the private sector;
  • Ensure the accurate, timely and effective delivery of digital content, optimized for search and audience engagement, working closely with the digital team;
  • Create and document best practices on LinkedIn and support the office’s efforts in communicating on the platform;
  • Provide support in creating and curating content to be disseminated through UNICEF Lebanon platforms contributing to trust building, brand positioning and donor visibility, among other strategies linked to UNICEF Lebanon Private Fundraising and Partnerships Strategy;
  • Analyze what works and what does not on LinkedIn, share findings with the digital team and coordinate initiatives to enhance reach and engagement with target audiences through this platform;
  • Identify articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to share on LinkedIn, highlighting UNICEF Lebanon results;
  • Assist in mapping/identifying major LinkedIn UNICEF accounts and private sector accounts of relevance to the private sector strategy;
  • Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on the social media key performance indicators (LinkedIn and Twitter);
  • Monitor targeted private sector accounts, UNICEF accounts and other UN accounts on LinkedIn to identify partnerships, inspiring content, etc.;
  • Assist with logistics and coordination of LinkedIn activities and live coverage events;

Conduct Research and due diligence on Local Private Sector Prospects

  • Monitor communication of partner organizations, UN agencies, relevant to the area of private partnerships and fundraising;
  • Implement in-depth open-source research on prospect local organizations and feed into the overall local due diligence process;

Administrative support

  • Support in private sector event coordination;
  • Support in completion of the Contribution In-Kind process liaising with the Supply section as needed;
  • Under the coordination of the section’s focal point for partners field visits, support with private sector donor field visits;
  • Liaise with Supply and programme colleagues to get updates on private sector related operations, (e.g. Distribution of in-kind donations, etc.);Other tasks related to the area of private partnerships might be required depending on updated plans or areas of the UNV’s interest.
Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Communication Arts, Marketing, Advertising, Audio visual, Journalism, Mass Media, Psychology, Sociology or any area related;

  • At least two years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in communication, advertising, content production, marketing. or other relevant programmes; experience with event management is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization, corporate sector, etc.;
  • Proficiency in digital storytelling, photo and video editing software (final cut pro X, Adobe Premiere, Lightroom)
  • Excellent knowledge and writing skills for social media platforms (particularly LinkedIn and Twitter)
