Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Change Management Adviser or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:

  • Ensure quarterly data collection, data analysis, reporting for the primary objective of enabling evidence-based change management.
  • Use AFRO information management processes and systems to classify, manage, store and transfer information on Transformation Agenda Initiatives.
  • Analyzes, synthesizes and disseminates methodologies, lessons learned and best practices on change monitoring and evaluation, including quality improvement.
  • Assist in identifying advocacy and communication opportunities for the Transformation Agenda, by monitoring the news and other key sources and managing internal and external communications calendar.
  • Draft a wide range of internal and external communications materials: briefings, infographics, animations, digital cards, short pagers, messages, newsletters, as well as PowerPoint, presentations, media releases, blogs, brochures and reports.
  • Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies.
  • Identify opportunities for promoting Transformation Agenda outcomes in bulletin, newsletters, digital platforms and other tools of key partners, regional institutions, organizations and networks.
  • Regularly provide analytics reports on engagement on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and other relevant channels and propose tactics and crafting content that lead to boost followers and enhance engagement with target audiences.
  • Ensure information on the website and intranet is kept up to date, by working closely with the webmaster, communications Unit. This involves the preparation of informal translations.
  • Conduct internal interviews, set up interviews, produce and edit videos, and posting stories, features, videos and photos on the main page and social media pages.

Les VNU coordonneront les activités du projet au niveau régional sous la supervision générale du conseiller technique en chef/gestionnaire du portefeuille des moyens d'existence inclusifs et de la résilience du PNUD à Djibouti et en étroite collaboration avec l'équipe du projet Rising Djibouti.

Les VNU (les coordinateurs régionaux) organiseront périodiquement des événements d'engagement communautaire et de sensibilisation afin d'impliquer les bénéficiaires, de faciliter leurs interventions grâce à des systèmes de coopération entre collègues. Ces efforts d'engagement communautaire et de coordination permettent d’éviter les chevauchements avec d'autres projets et programmes et facilitent la collaboration à tous les niveaux et étapes de la mise en œuvre du projet. En outre, ce mécanisme permettra à la direction du projet d'identifier tout défi ou écart par rapport au plan d'action convenu et d'intervenir en temps utile pour faciliter les progrès.

Sous la supervision du coordinateur du projet, les VNU vont :

  • Soutenir la cartographie préliminaire des bénéficiaires potentiels du projet ;
  • Coordonnés avec les OSC locales et régionales pour le travail sur le développement économique des femmes et des jeunes, ainsi que sur le programme de développement de l'esprit d'entreprise pour accélérer la procédure de relance des impacts de COVID au niveau Communautaire ;
  • Soutenir les OSC et les groupes communautaires partenaires afin d'améliorer leurs capacités et leurs systèmes de soutien social, de manière qu'ils s'engagent davantage auprès des personnes, en particulier les plus vulnérables de leurs communautés, et construisent des sociétés inclusives et résilientes grâce à leurs activités de terrain.
  • Mobiliser les jeunes entrepreneurs et faciliter leurs interventions en matière de développement des entreprises ;
  • Organiser des séries de dialogues périodiques avec les entreprises agroalimentaires et de pêche et les personnes associées à ces entreprises ;
  • Collaborer avec les groupes communautaires et les OSC pour soutenir les mécanismes de contrôle entre collègues afin de garantir l'utilisation optimale de l'aide financière fournie ;
  • Assurer la liaison avec les autorités régionales et locales et les parties prenantes ;
  • Soutenir la collecte de données et l'établissement de rapports détaillés sur les bénéficiaires conformément aux exigences du projet ;

Under the direct supervision of Head of Office, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Provide technical support and guidance to UNHCR sub-office, field offices and partners on activities within the areas of WASH.
  • Undertake needs and resource assessments with sub-office and field offices to prioritize needs and activities in the provision of WASH services refugees and returnees.
  • Make provisions for the installation of WASH services in any new camp or camp extension identified for the settlement of refugees in direct coordination and collaboration with the designated site planner or shelter officer.
  • Contribute to the scale up of the UNHCR WASH monitoring framework in projects and keep the records updated.
  • Assist in and check engineering calculations leading to detailed drawings for required WASH infrastructures and activities and associated cost estimates for camps/settlements, transit centers, etc.
  • Contribute to develop training plans and tools and provide inputs in training sessions to ensure that implementing partners, refugees and other persons of concern to UNHCR acquire the needed knowledge and skills.
  • Represent the WASH sector internally and externally, in particular in the WASH cluster with other relevant actors/technical coordination platforms as necessary.
  • Emergency response: Willing to be deployed for the first phase emergency response to carry out needs assessment and support the country to develop a WASH strategic plan of response.
Bachelor degree or equivalent

Type of Degree: Engineering (preferably MSc) in hydrology, hydrogeology, hydraulics, water/sanitation management or environmental sciences.

A minimum 2 years of experience in water supply and sewerage works, water purification systems, pump installations and associated electrical works, etc.; experience in project cycle management, partnerships, disengagement strategy and sustainability of WASH projects is essential.

  • Have affinity with or interest in humanitarian relief, post-conflict situations, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
