Management
1. Fournir un soutien à la gestion de projet pour des programmes et projets spécifiques et définis,
en assurant une approche coordonnée avec un programme plus large conforme aux normes
et procédures du PAM
2. Appuyer l’identification, le développement et la gestion de partenariats potentiels pour le travail
en collaboration menant à l’amélioration des programmes d’aide alimentaire.

3. Guider et superviser une équipe de personnel local chargée de la mise en oeuvre et du suivi
des programmes.
4. Veiller à l’utilisation efficace et transparente des fonds alloués au sous-bureau.
Opérations
5. Contribuer à l’élaboration d’une grande variété de projets, de plans et de processus, en assurant
l’alignement sur les politiques et les orientations plus larges des programmes.
6. Élaborer et coordonner des systèmes de collecte et de surveillance des données en veillant à
ce que des normes de qualité rigoureuses soient maintenues.
7. Étudier et analyser un éventail de questions stratégiques et opérationnelles pour éclairer l’élaboration
de politiques, de programmes et d’activités.
8. Contribuer à la préparation de rapports précis et opportuns sur les programmes et les activités
qui permettent la prise de décisions éclairées et la cohérence des informations présentées
aux parties prenantes.
9. Assurer la liaison avec ses homologues internes pour assurer une collaboration efficace, surveiller
les projets en cours et souligner les risques potentiels pour la réalisation des projets.
10. Soutenir le renforcement des capacités du personnel et des partenaires du PAM

En plus de ce qui précède, les Volontaires des Nations Unies sont censés :

Renforcer leurs connaissances et compréhension du concept du volontariat en lisant la documentation
mise à disposition par le programme VNU, les publications externes et prendre
activement part aux activités du programme VNU, par exemple s’impliquer dans les activités
commémoratives de la Journée internationale des Volontaires (JIV), le 5 décembre.
- Se familiariser et développer toute forme de volontariat traditionnel et/ou local au niveau du
pays d’accueil.
- Refléter le type et la nature des actions volontaires qu’ils entreprennent, y compris leur participation
dans les réflexions substantielles.
- Contribuer à la rédaction des articles sur les expériences de terrain à soumettre pour la publication
du programme VNU/ site web, bulletin et notes de presse, etc.
- Contribuer au Programme d’accueil des Volontaires des Nations Unies nouvellement arrivés
dans le pays d’affectation ;
- Promouvoir ou conseiller les groupes locaux dans l’utilisation des volontaires en ligne ou
encourager les individus et les organisations à utiliser les services de volontaires en ligne
quand cela est techniquement possible.

Within the delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the UNFPA Quality Assurance Specialist and overall guidance of the UNFPA Representative .the Population and Census Coordination Specialist UN Volunteer will:

  • Liaise with relevant Statistics Sierra Leone officials and represent UNFPA in technical level discussions around the 2020 mid-term census and feedback to the Country Office.
  • Ensure pre-enumeration and enumeration activities are on track and provide technical advice where necessary
  • Develop/consolidate an action plan for support to the successful implementation of the mid-term census and post census work, updated with results achieved on a regular basis.
  • Monitor and support Statistics Sierra Leone in the process of pre-enumeration, enumeration, cartographic, work, and compilation of census field reports.
  • Coordinate, foster and strengthen strategic partnerships with UN agencies, and other relevant multilateral and bilateral organizations that are supporting the 2020 mid-term census in Sierra Leone
  • Establish good working relationships with officials of Statistics Sierra Leone and other local stakeholders in the 2020 mid-term census
  • Support the country office in other population and development work as assigned
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in Sierra Leone;

Under the direct supervision of the full-time Community Volunteer (Research) in the country of assignment, the part-time Community Volunteer (Research) will:

 

 

  • Conduct interviews of people living in border areas to understand the key factors behind a community’s attitude towards illicit trafficking and the possible remedial actions that could be put in place;
  • Travel to nearby communities to reach out to more individuals to understand the local dynamics in those communities. Only day roundtrips will be allowed, i.e. no overnight stays outside the town/village of origin;
  • Compile the information and data collected and send them every week to the full-time UN Community Volunteer in the country of assignment;
  • Create communication contents on the implementation of the assignment (e.g. pictures, short films, narrative accounts – including human stories), while respecting security and safety rules, and send those to the full-time UN Community Volunteer in the country of assignment for forwarding to UNODC;
  • Be in constant contact with the full-time UN Community Volunteer in the country of assignment to understand the latest instructions from UNODC regarding the implementation of the initiative;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by UNODC.
Secondary education
  • Secondary school education or equivalent;
  • Voluntary service, community engagement or work experience can be considered in lieu of any formal education.

Good communication skills.
