The UN Volunteer will work under the supervision of the UNDP Resident Representative and Deputy Resident Representative, in the key functions listed below. He will also work closely with the Regional Information Management Officer, as part of the UNDP-UNV Tandem Teams Initiative[1].

Data Capture, Management and Analysis:

  • Identify key data gaps for informed crisis risk tracking in the country.
  • Propose a strategy and implementation plan for capturing required primary data
  • Develop a process for and understand primary data gathering (e.g. designing and conducting periodic perception surveys)
  • Identify and integrate additional primary and secondary data into the Crisis Risk Dashboard as required by evolving needs including the development, implementation and management of new indicators and corresponding data that are associated with the crisis risk model;
  • Propose revisions and improvements to the overall design framework and data requirements for the risk tracking system, using as the key tool the Crisis Risk Dashboard (CRD) – a purpose-designed platform developed by CRU for online information management and data visualization - and ensure content is current, comprehensive, and follows relevant metadata standards;

Data Visualization, Reporting and Application:

  • Produce and update information products such as maps, charts, and infographics by turning data into graphical products to convey messages and a storyline as well as support strategic and operational decision-making;
  • Explore ways of presenting crisis risk profiles and early warning more effectively through visual representations (charts, graphs, tables and diagrams) through the CRD;
  • Provide technical assistance in translating data and other program information into easy visual representations, in accordance with data visualization best practices;
  • Consolidate operational information on a regular schedule to support analysis and design and implement sustainable information management and dissemination systems for data collections for the CRD, where required.

Training and Technical Support:

  • Provide substantive input on information management toward the development of guidance and training materials in support of the Country Office / Country Team application of the CRD;
  • Provide maintenance and end-user technical support in issues relating to the CRD information management use, including troubleshooting for data entry and access to the existing database;
  • Provide technical assistance in order to build capacity of staff on how to integrate data visualization approaches into their work as well as how to update and monitor existing dashboards.

Master degree or equivalent

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in information management, information systems, social science or related.

Under the direct supervision of AIS Project Coordinator based in Jakarta, Indonesia, the UN Youth Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Lead on the youth engagement and representation in the Caribbean including to compile relevant contacts, creating a database of AIS’ stakeholders (start-up, universities, academic institutions) and liaising with relevant partners.
  • Support AIS Secretariat team members in implementing of AIS program including the preparation the events, development the program activities, and writing AIS program documents.

  1. Under the supervision of the Communications and Advocacy Officer, the International UN Volunteer/ Specialist will undertake the following tasks:

    Essential

    Social media management and visualization:

    • Manage UNDP Kazakhstan social media - Twitter, Instagram, Facebook: a) develop content strategy; b) plan content posting; c) perform regular engagement monitoring and analysis;

    • Develop and design the (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) ;

    • Undertake social media audit at the end of 2021;

    • Design infographics, presentations and other corporate material (leaflets,

      brochures, manuals) disseminated to the Government, partners, donors, public;

    • Identify innovative ways and new communications tools to display / promote the work of UNDP Kazakhstan;

    • Build the research and publications section on the website as a repository of

      the knowledge materials produced by UNDP Kazakhstan.

      Communication and advocacy materials/capacity building:

    • Identify innovative opportunities and new communications tools and platforms to display the key work of the UNDP Kazakhstan;

    • Assist the Communication team with any tasks related to communication and advocacy (producing stories, press releases, speeches, etc.);

    • Provide trainings for UNDP Kazakhstan staff on communications and advocacy for further development.

      Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

    • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);

    • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;

      • Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities;

      • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;

      • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;

      • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering

        service whenever technically possible.

Procurement of Goods, Services and Works

  • Contributes to the effective, economical and efficient procurement of goods and services based on the users' requirements by preparing comprehensive pre-qualifications and bid documents as well as work performance statements in accordance with established procurement procedures and National Laws.
  • Organizes pre-bid meetings in coordination with user-sections, meetings of the Evaluation Committee and discussions for specific procurement issues.

Database System Maintenance

  • Contributes to the effective and efficient maintenance of information/data by properly classifying and maintaining all on-going, completed and in-process goods and service contracts including performance and cost records, list of current and prospective contractors/suppliers, original copies of all service contracts and relevant documents.
  • Regularly monitors information maintained and periodically generating statistical reports as well as securing the confidentiality of information such as archives, documents and memoranda related to on-going procurement exercises. Provides similar database system maintenance function with respect to the procurement of goods.

Contract Monitoring and Administration

  • Contributes to effective contract monitoring and administration by assisting relevant staff in the monitoring and checking the compliance of all contractual requirements as well as providing clarifications on contract provisions and mediation to Requesting Units in resolving claims/queries made by suppliers and contractors.
  • Coordinates with the Evaluation Committee on the conduct of due diligence and vetting process to determine the (i) legal identity; (ii) financial soundness; and (iii) technical capability, based on the established criteria, as part of the pre- or post-qualification process.
  • Ensures the Contractor’s compliance with all contractual provisions.
  • Monitors fulfillment by the Contractors of all undertakings under the contract, including submission of the applicable liability insurance policies, performance guarantee, and other relevant contractual documents and notifications before commencing performance under the contract.
