Under the direct supervision of the Chief of communication, advocacy and partnerships, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Support the conceptualization, planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of an advocacy and communication strategy to leverage better results and mobilize resources for children:

  • Use a number of digital and social media channels and make recommendations regarding current and future social media platforms and innovation technologies to use in order to increase UNICEF’s outreach in Burundi and abroad;
  • Develop and produce multimedia products and online campaign narratives to advance UNICEF’s mandate and to better profile children's rights,
  • Liaise with donors and National Committees and facilitate field visits and content creation as needed;
  • Support the chief of communication to regularly update media and development partners on progress of UNICEF Country Programme and progress for children and women, as well as UNICEF’s global priorities and campaigns, through the dissemination of reports, surveys, media releases;
  • Maintenance and update of UNICEF Burundi online pages;
  • Update social media platforms;
  • Support the organization of field visits;
  • Contribute to the strategic development of digital initiatives in the country and provide ideas to increase digital engagement,
  • Develop and disseminate social media content for UNICEF’s platforms, including production of digital/online campaigns;

Film, edit and work with video files in multiple formats highlighting UNICEF’s work.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Reports and Knowledge Management Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:

  • Help programme officers conceptualize project proposals and coordinate with other partners, including other UN agencies, and reviews project proposals to ensure that they meet the donor’s expectations as well as UNICEF quality standards, and are submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Country Office’s resource mobilization strategy and related tools, and advises on opportunities for interactions with donors and other stakeholders, including local volunteer organizations.
  • Ensure timely submission of quality donor reports through updating and sharing the reports planning table, reviewing reports to ensure that they meet UNICEF quality standards, including coherence between financial and narrative information and contractual agreements, and providing overall guidance and capacity strengthening to programme section staff in charge of report writing.
  • Perform other duties related to resource mobilization and partnerships, as needed.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. The UNV will be based in Nairobi County and travel to the different programme sites as required. Under the direct supervision of the Social Policy and Economic Specialist, the national UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Provide substantive operational, research, statistical and other analytic support on a wide range of operational and country issues, reviews. S/he will be expected to collate relevant important social-economic, child related and other data/information of interest to UNICEF:

  • Serve as a technical advisor on collection, collation, analysis and interpretation of data/information as required.
  • Gather and report on both quantitative and qualitative data, analyzing it for any trends or important information that may be useful in programming and reporting.
  • Assist KCO staff with queries, and technical difficulties related to data retrieval, data gaps and recommend actions/solutions.
  • Co-ordinate timely technical data accrual and synthesis for office wide use.
  • Make large and/or complex data more accessible, understandable and usable by relevant teams and stakeholders.
  • Deliver data in a useful and appealing way to users by designing info-graphs, dashboards, and visual products for both printed and online presentation and circulation.
  • Contribute to the development of analytical reports and materials based on the data collected within KCO for further dissemination among sections, government and non-government stakeholders.

Assist in reporting and producing bi-monthly bulletin of UNICEF work at county level:

  • Package the zonal office county work reports into bi -monthly bulletins for UNICEF work at counties show casing key outputs.
  • Support preparation of briefing materials on country program/section and project issues and follow up on portfolio issues. This includes presentations and documentation for the various tasks together with relevant teams at counties and zonal offices;
  • Contribute to preparation of county and zonal office reports to management or external agencies.

Collaborate with UNICEF staff to enhance knowledge management and communication strategy for data:

  • Develop user friendly tools and ways to communicate data to non-technical audiences
  • Develop innovative geospatial products that enhance reports, briefs and creative communications content
  • Create cartographic products and provide geospatial services for UNICEF KCO staff to support program management, analysis, planning, and reporting.
  • Design digital maps with geographic data and other data sources. This includes creating "shapefiles" to merge topographical data with external data by layering external data over a topographical map.

• Contribuer à l’identification des tendances émergentes et changeantes des préoccupations et des violations des droits de l’homme ainsi qu’aux lacunes en matière de réponse et de capacité, et aider à l’élaboration d’une stratégie pour répondre à la situation;

• Veiller à ce que les questions relatives aux droits de l’homme soient intégrées aux efforts et programmes politiques, humanitaires et économiques de l’Équipe des Nations Unies pour les pays, en mettant l’accent sur la parité entre les sexes;

• Préparer des séances d’information, des notes d’entrevues, des documents analytiques et contribuer à la production de divers documents et rapports;

• Contribuer à la gestion des cas individuels de violations présumées des droits de l’homme au Niger;

• Contribuer à l’établissement de mesures de protection judiciaires et individuelles efficaces pour les victimes et les témoins de violations des droits humains, y compris les victimes de violences sexuelles et les défenseurs des droits humains;

• Contribuer aux rapports sur la situation des droits de l’homme au Niger (rapports quotidiens, hebdomadaires, mensuels et ad hoc), y compris les rapports d’évaluation de la situation des droits de l’homme concernant les activités de Boko Haram et les interventions antiterroristes;

• Participer à la recherche et à l’analyse sur les questions de genre et les violations des droits de l’homme touchant en particulier les femmes et les filles;

• Contribuer aux notes d’information, à l’analyse de la situation, aux rapports, etc.;

• Soutenir les visites des rapporteurs spéciaux sur des questions spécifiques relatives aux droits de l’homme au Niger;

• Contribuer à la mise en œuvre effective de projets visant à promouvoir et à protéger les droits de l’homme au Niger;

• Soutenir les activités de promotion des droits de l’homme, diffuser du matériel sur les droits de l’homme aux partenaires, y compris aux représentants du Gouvernement, des institutions nationales et des organisations de la société civile;

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Representative and in close cooperation with the the Logistics team, the volunteer will:

  • Coordinate COVAX cold chain / logistics and in-country supply chain readiness and support the implementation of COVAX supply chain related activities in Congo with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with programmes in defining supply interventions to meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children, and provides technical and advisory of the Supply chain, logistics and vaccine forecasting working group and through national immunization logistics working groups

  • Be responsible for facilitating the rapid delivery of vaccine and associated supplies/equipment and deployment to vaccination centers / target groups.

  • Support the readiness on the COVID-19 vaccine deployment and the required supply chain & logistics interventions

The UNV M&E Specialist will work in close collaboration with the M&E Specialist (P3) and M&E Officer (NOB) and will be responsible for providing technical guidance and support to Programme Sections ensuring that the M&E interventions are integrated, monitored, and implemented in a timely fashion. In addition, the UNV M&E Specialist will support the development of multi-country programme document,
mid- and end-year reporting, regular programme monitoring and evaluation exercises, and strategic advocacy through developing research or advocacy tools as needed by Programme Sections. In particular, the UNV M&E Specialist will support the UNICEF Eastern Caribbean Area Office contribute towards the timely, relevant, reliable and strategic information on:

  • the situation of children, adolescents, youth and women, with a focus on inequities; and,
