Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Reports and Knowledge Management Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:

  • Help programme officers conceptualize project proposals and coordinate with other partners, including other UN agencies, and reviews project proposals to ensure that they meet the donor’s expectations as well as UNICEF quality standards, and are submitted in a timely fashion.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Country Office’s resource mobilization strategy and related tools, and advises on opportunities for interactions with donors and other stakeholders, including local volunteer organizations.
  • Ensure timely submission of quality donor reports through updating and sharing the reports planning table, reviewing reports to ensure that they meet UNICEF quality standards, including coherence between financial and narrative information and contractual agreements, and providing overall guidance and capacity strengthening to programme section staff in charge of report writing.
  • Perform other duties related to resource mobilization and partnerships, as needed.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Communication Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Communication Associate will:

  1. Organize UNICEF Mexico´s catalogue of photo and video images to create and archive in an easy to retrieve manner a set of collections for internal and external use in social media, publications, communication and fundraising campaigns.
  2. Provide support in digital activities: KPI tracking for digital channels, web content development and community management.
  3. Provide support in the production of social media and multimedia products (design, adaptation of content pieces provided by UNICEF headquarters, video/audio products and social media content).
  4. Provide support in uploading photos, videos and other multimedia materials to a UNICEF online platform (WeShare) to share content for the entire organization, including National Committees.
  5. Provide other support to the Communication team as required.

The main benefit of serving as a UN Volunteer is the personal satisfaction that the volunteer assignment brings, as it implies having a positive impact for peace and development. However, the United Nations Volunteers program offers support during your assignment in several ways.

The UNV program will cover:

  • The transfer trip to the place of assignment and installation and repatriation allowance (if applicable) will be provided in the event that the work destination is not within a reasonable distance from the volunteer's place of residence.
  • A VLA (Volunteer Living Allowance) grant of ** MXN 14,758.75 ** that will be provided on a monthly basis to cover the costs of accommodation, housing and normal living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included, as well as a reinstatement allowance for satisfactory service. The volunteer will be entitled to annual leave and medical leave (if applicable), virtual learning courses and training allowance (reimbursable). Full time availability is required.

  • Assist with gathering, organizing, and analyzing information for the identification of gaps and trends, production of forecasts, and drafting of analytical reports and assessments to support UNITAD’s structural investigation, investigative interviews and case building activities.
  • Undertake in-depth research and analysis of complex political, military, paramilitary, and other related activities in cases involving serious breaches of international humanitarian law, such as genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes, including sexual and gender-based violence.
  • Liaise closely with investigators, lawyers, information and evidence officers to identify and analyze evidence material and further investigative leads.
  • Assist national prosecutors, police or law enforcement agencies with investigative and/or prosecutorial activities.
  • Assist with classifying, managing and transferring confidential information by using UNITAD’s specialized technological tools and information management processes, in consultation with information management / technology expertise.
  • Maintain an understanding of developments/events relevant for the implementation of UNITAD's mandate through the monitoring and collection of data/information from multiple sources, including UNITAD components, UN Country Team (UNCT), Iraqi judicial/military/civilian authorities, NGOs, media and other key stakeholders.

The UNV will be based in Nairobi County and travel to the different programme sites as required. Under the direct supervision of the Social Policy and Economic Specialist, the national UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Provide substantive operational, research, statistical and other analytic support on a wide range of operational and country issues, reviews. S/he will be expected to collate relevant important social-economic, child related and other data/information of interest to UNICEF:

  • Serve as a technical advisor on collection, collation, analysis and interpretation of data/information as required.
  • Gather and report on both quantitative and qualitative data, analyzing it for any trends or important information that may be useful in programming and reporting.
  • Assist KCO staff with queries, and technical difficulties related to data retrieval, data gaps and recommend actions/solutions.
  • Co-ordinate timely technical data accrual and synthesis for office wide use.
  • Make large and/or complex data more accessible, understandable and usable by relevant teams and stakeholders.
  • Deliver data in a useful and appealing way to users by designing info-graphs, dashboards, and visual products for both printed and online presentation and circulation.
  • Contribute to the development of analytical reports and materials based on the data collected within KCO for further dissemination among sections, government and non-government stakeholders.

Assist in reporting and producing bi-monthly bulletin of UNICEF work at county level:

  • Package the zonal office county work reports into bi -monthly bulletins for UNICEF work at counties show casing key outputs.
  • Support preparation of briefing materials on country program/section and project issues and follow up on portfolio issues. This includes presentations and documentation for the various tasks together with relevant teams at counties and zonal offices;
  • Contribute to preparation of county and zonal office reports to management or external agencies.

Collaborate with UNICEF staff to enhance knowledge management and communication strategy for data:

  • Develop user friendly tools and ways to communicate data to non-technical audiences
  • Develop innovative geospatial products that enhance reports, briefs and creative communications content
  • Create cartographic products and provide geospatial services for UNICEF KCO staff to support program management, analysis, planning, and reporting.
  • Design digital maps with geographic data and other data sources. This includes creating "shapefiles" to merge topographical data with external data by layering external data over a topographical map.
  • Produce maps showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of data and aanalyze spatial data and discover patterns and trends.

  • Manage a digital library of geographic maps in various file types.

Establish an online data system for UNICEF for easy access by UNICEF and other users:

  • Create an online repository for processed data and availing the same for use by different sections within UNICEF.
  • Implement best practices in the management of the data system to ensure the integrity of data and quality of data processes
  • Design and write custom applications to ensure databases meet requirements throughout data entry, management, and reporting.

Sous la supervision générale du Chef du Bureau de pays du HCDH niger, les Volontaires des Nations Unies seront responsables des tâches suivantes :

• Soutenir le renforcement des capacités et les réformes des institutions nationales du Niger afin d’assurer le respect du droit international des droits de l’homme;

• Assister le Bureau pays à identifier les priorités en matière de droits de l’homme , ainsi qu’à élaborer le Plan de travail annuel;

• Assister les autorités nationales dans leurs efforts pour mettre en œuvre et donner suite aux recommandations des organes des Traités des Nations Unies, du Conseil des droits de l’homme des Nations Unies et de ses mécanismes, y compris les procédures spéciales;

• Assister les autorités nationales dans leurs efforts de mise en œuvre et de suivi des recommandations de l’Examen périodique universel (EER);

• Contribuer à la préparation de programmes de formation aux droits de l’homme pour les autoritésnigériennes, les représentants des Institutions nationales des droits de l’homme, de la société civile, des organisations non gouvernementales et d’autres parties prenantes nationales;

• Contribuer à des notes d’information régulières et à des points de discussion pour le Bureau pays du Niger demandés par le Siège du HCDH à Genève;

• Participer aux réunions inter-agences;

• Contribuer à l’intégration des considérations de genre et des questions spécifiques relatives aux droits des femmes et des filles dans toutes les activités, programmes et stratégies;

• Contribuer à l’intégration des droits de l’homme dans le Plan national de développement et dans le travail de l’équipe de pays des Nations Unies et des groupes de travail, y compris sur les objectifs de développement durable et l’action humanitaire;

• Rechercher, recueillir, documenter et analyser des informations relatives à la situation des droits de l’homme au Niger dans le cadre du mandat du Bureau pays du HCDH;

• Contribuer à l’identification des tendances émergentes et changeantes des préoccupations et des violations des droits de l’homme ainsi qu’aux lacunes en matière de réponse et de capacité, et aider à l’élaboration d’une stratégie pour répondre à la situation;

• Veiller à ce que les questions relatives aux droits de l’homme soient intégrées aux efforts et programmes politiques, humanitaires et économiques de l’Équipe des Nations Unies pour les pays, en mettant l’accent sur la parité entre les sexes;

• Préparer des séances d’information, des notes d’entrevues, des documents analytiques et contribuer à la production de divers documents et rapports;

• Veiller à ce que toutes les activités soient menées conformément aux normes et méthodes de travail pertinentes, y compris pour la protection et le traitement sécuritaire de l’information;

• Engager le dialogue et mener des activités de plaidoyer auprès des autorités nationales compétentes (civiles et militaires), des organisations de la société civile, des membres de l’Équipe residente des Nations Unies et d’autres acteurs et parties prenantes internationaux sur la promotion et la protection des droits de l’homme en vue d’assurer le respect des obligations en matière de droits de l’homme;

• Utiliser les outils de gestion de l’information mis au point par le HCDH, y compris la base de données;

• Contribuer à la surveillance et à la production de rapports sur les droits de l’homme au Niger au besoin;

• Contribuer à la gestion des cas individuels de violations présumées des droits de l’homme au Niger;

• Contribuer à l’établissement de mesures de protection judiciaires et individuelles efficaces pour les victimes et les témoins de violations des droits humains, y compris les victimes de violences sexuelles et les défenseurs des droits humains;

• Contribuer aux rapports sur la situation des droits de l’homme au Niger (rapports quotidiens, hebdomadaires, mensuels et ad hoc), y compris les rapports d’évaluation de la situation des droits de l’homme concernant les activités de Boko Haram et les interventions antiterroristes;

• Participer à la recherche et à l’analyse sur les questions de genre et les violations des droits de l’homme touchant en particulier les femmes et les filles;

• Contribuer aux notes d’information, à l’analyse de la situation, aux rapports, etc.;

• Soutenir les visites des rapporteurs spéciaux sur des questions spécifiques relatives aux droits de l’homme au Niger;

• Contribuer à la mise en œuvre effective de projets visant à promouvoir et à protéger les droits de l’homme au Niger;

• Soutenir les activités de promotion des droits de l’homme, diffuser du matériel sur les droits de l’homme aux partenaires, y compris aux représentants du Gouvernement, des institutions nationales et des organisations de la société civile;

• Effectuer d’autres tâches connexes assignées par ses supérieurs.

Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Diplôme universitaire avancé (Licence, Maîtrise , Master ou équivalent) en droit, en sciences politiques, en relations internationales, en sciences sociales ou dans un domaine connexe.

  • Au moins trois (03) ans d’expérience dans les domaines des droits de l’homme, des affaires politiques, des relations internationales, du droit ou des domaines connexes. Une expérience en monitoring, de reporting, de plaidoyer et de renforcement des capacités en matière de droits de l’homme est requise.

  • Volonté de travailler dans des endroits difficiles sur le terrain; bonne conscience de la sécurité;
  • Avoir une affinité ou un intérêt pour l'aide humanitaire, les situations d'après-conflit, le volontariat en tant que mécanisme de développement durable et le système des Nations Unies.

Support planning and following-up the implementation of PFM studies such as financial expenditure reviews in key social sectors (i.e. education sector), amongst other public financial analysis on allocations and trends in public expenditure, allocation, disbursement and execution in social sectors;

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the unit coordinator or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Provide technical assistance to indigenous women and other discriminated women organizations supported by the PROFEM Project, State actors and institutions and other OHCHR partners.
  • Provide technical support to organizations and rights holders for the development of advocacy strategies that aim at mainstreaming gender, including gender analysis, gender data and apply women´s international human rights standards.
  • Provide technical assistance in the reporting and delivering of grants to civil society organizations.
  • Support the integration of a gender perspective in OHCHR-Guatemala’s strategic lines priorities and activities;
  • Support the implementation of the OHCHR-Guatemala gender strategy;
  • Contribute to and/or draft various reports, communications, briefing notes, statements and contribute to the draft of the annual narrative report for donor that includes: i) the activities carried out; ii) documents produced; iii) minutes of meetings and progress reports; iv) systematization of advisory, facilitation and accompaniment activities and their results.
