Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Regional Communications Adviser or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Communications Specialist will:

  • Create social media content to amplify UNFPA’s mandate, to create visibility for UNFPA on commemorative days, during campaigns and for special events;

  • Use social media to consistently encourage two-way conversation and engagement across UNFPA channels;

  • Increase the use of multiple social media platforms to promote messaging on UNFPA’s issues whilst maintaining the brand of the organization;
  • Analyze social media engagement and traffic by UNFPA ESARO and UNFPA country offices and monthly create reports on all activities;

  • Ensure that web pages and social media channels created by country and regional offices adhere to UNFPA brand guidelines and regularly maintained with new content;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • University degree (Bachelor’s degree) in communications, digital media and infographics, mass media and journalism or international relations;

  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience (up to 4 years) experience in news reporting, journalistic writing, editing, publication and communication or multimedia, and digital media;
  • Experience in advocacy and campaigns management;
  • Knowledge of international development issues is required;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English (language) is required, and Knowledge of another UN working language an asset;
  • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;
  • Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others).
