Under the direct supervision of the WFP Head of Field Office in Maungdaw and overall supervision of the Country Director and Deputy Country Director from the WFP Country Office in Naypyidaw, the UNV Program Officer will perform the specific duties and responsibilities

stated under Description of tasks:

  • Assist in the overall coordination and management of all WFP programs activities in Maungdaw & Buthidaung in northern Rakhine State (nRS);
  • Liaise and coordinate with all Cooperating Partners regarding food assistance activities,
  • Check and prepare CP payment requests for endorsement by Head of Field Office;
  • Provide back-up support and follow-up on WFP food assistance programs at Field Office level,
  • Ensure food pipeline management is effectively carried out;
  • Carry out regular monitoring duties and plans of food monitors in all operational areas. Including assessment of needy areas;
  • Gather information on potential project activities, with special reference to food security related data for identifying potential beneficiaries;
  • Assist in preparation of WFP corporate Reports;
  • Represent WFP at donor, inter-agency and internal meetings as required;
  • Update the targeting package (including community and individual household targeting of relief beneficiaries, school feeding and Cash for Assets (CFA) creation activities annually and make sure the designed targeting system are implemented properly;
  • Make sure the planned food has been distributed to right beneficiaries in timely manner and with the right quality;
  • Provide any other support as required.
Bachelor degree or equivalent

University degree in International Development Studies, Social Sciences, Health, Nutrition, Agriculture, Environmental Science or other related fields

  • A minimum of 5 years job-related field experience in providing support to policy and program activities with professional experience in food security and managing development and/or humanitarian operations.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel) is necessary

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Chief of Health or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Health Officer will work with a team of experts to addresses challenges in improving the health of women, newborns and children through these main components:

  • Contribute to the Health section’s COVID-19 response, including support to emerging areas such as mental health;
  • Supporting evidence-generation so good science can inform sound policy and leverage Government commitment and resources for action;
  • Advocacy and engagement to strengthen national policy to ensure follow-up to local level;
  • Contributing to Government efforts in identifying and addressing new and emerging health problems in the country;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Master degree or equivalent
  • Master’s degree in Health or related field including Medicine, Public Health, Global/International Health, Health Policy & Management, Environmental Health, Family Health, Health Research, Biostatistics, Socio-medical Sciences, Epidemiology, Health Education, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Educational Interventions in Health Care, Demography, Social Sciences, Nursing, or a field relevant to international public health development assistance.
  • Master’s degree in any of the above fields is considered as an asset.

  • Master's degree with minimum 2 years of professional work experience in public health, international development or related field.
  • Or, Bachelor’s degre in relevant field(s) plus 3 years of relevant experience.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Head of Business Development and Partnerships with dotted reporting line to Youth Co:Lab/Youth Focal and Youth team in UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific , the UNV Youth Community Engagement Volunteer will:

  • Organise and facilitate online and offline Movers Programme workshops for youth in Bangladesh;
  • Manage and oversee Movers Programme events and and members in Bangladesh;
  • Community engagement and management with alumni of the youth programme, including Movers Programme;
  • Support in adapting and localizing Movers training curriculum for Bangladesh context;
  • Bridge and mobilize partners and resources in Bangladesh to co-convene Movers Programme activities, mentorship and module design;
  • Travel to facilitate Movers Programme workshops if needed;
  • Assist in the Youth Co:Lab Bangladesh activities, i.e. National Dialogue, Ecosystem Discussions and Innovation Challenge;
  • Assist in the creating a robus youth network in Bangladesh;
  • Assist in documentation and knowledge management of YCL and Movers Programme.
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor and Youth Co:Lab/Youth Focal.

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in communications, linguisitics, business management, marketing, international relations or any related field;

  • Previous engagement with youth-related work an asset - experience of volunteering/working/interning in youth focused CSO/s or youth empowerment projects.
  • Good command of English and Bangla, written and oral; knowledge of regional languages preferred.

  • Demonstrates sound judgment, diplomacy and sensitivity to confidential matters;
  • Previous assignment in a similar position would be desirable;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels;
