Under the overall supervision of UN Women WCARO Policy Adviser for Peace & Security and Humanitarian Action, the project coordinator will be responsible for the following key Functions:

  1. Strategic direction and technical management of the project
  • Provide technical and strategic assistance to project activities, including planning, implementing and monitoring, and ensure quality control of interventions;
  • Provide practical support to country offices and implementing partners in the areas of project management and planning, field activity implementation and management, as well as monitoring and evaluation of the project impacts;
  • Develop terms of reference of consultants and subcontractors, and assist in the selection and recruitment process and provide technical supervision of the work carried out by the experts and consultants hired by the project;
  • Advising on political and legal issues concerning the project;
  • Ensure the preparation and revision of the project annual plan of Action;
  • Inform the regional adviser of the progress of the project, according to the mechanisms and frequency established in the project document;
  • Represent the project at regional and national levels;
  • Record and maintain documents on relevant Programme activities, issues, and risks.
  1. Ensure quality project coordination, implementation at regional level and timely donor reporting
  • Coordinate relationships with partners to support implementation and expansion of the projects, raise potential problems and suggest solutions;
  • Identify capacity building needs and support partners through technical assistance, mentoring, training and capacity development initiatives as needed.
  • Collect information from country offices and ensure the timely submission of quality progress reports and donor reports as well as the other reporting documents (multi-year, annual, quarterly, operational, reports);
  • Contribute to strategic connection, result-based reporting and knowledge management with global Women’s Resilience to Disasters and Crisis program and support strategic cooperation particularly between the Sahel Resilience Programme and thePromoting women’s resilience in the Lake Chad Basin Region” programme” in joint cooperation with the Sahel Resilience Programme Coordinator.
  • Gather and compile all information necessary for monitoring and reporting on program and projects from the planning to the evaluation stages;
  • Monitor the implementation of activities and the expenditure of funds; conduct regular monitoring visits, as required;
  • Draft and provide inputs to annual and quarterly reports; coordinate the submission of implementing partner financial and narrative reports;
  • Establish systems for project planning, implementation and monitoring, in collaboration with partners and UNWOMEN country offices;
  • Provide inputs from the project to the regional report.

  1. Networking, partnership building and resource mobilization

  • Build and sustain effective close working partnerships with government counterparts, UN Agencies and regional stakeholders through active sharing of information and knowledge to facilitate program implementation and build the capacity of stakeholders to achieve and sustain results.

  • Draft communication and advocacy materials to promote awareness, establish partnerships/alliances, ensure visibility and support resource mobilization on issues related to gender-responsive DRR and humanitarian action and crisis response under the broader umbrella of promoting women’s resilience in the Lake Chad Basin Region.
  • Participate in inter-agency meetings/events on programming to collaborate with inter-agency partners/colleagues on joint planning and preparation of joint regional, DRR and humanitarian action-crisis response related projects.
  • Research information on potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials and briefs for fundraising and partnership development purposes.

  1. Advocate and facilitate knowledge building and management and communication
  • Participate in the development of a LCB resilience proramme knowledge management and communications strategy to guide relevant activities contribute to enhanced knowledge sharing and increased visibility of UN Women’s programmatic interventions.
  • Identify, capture, synthesize and share lessons learned for knowledge development and to build the capacity of stakeholders.
  • Apply innovative approaches and promote good practice to support the implementation and delivery of concrete and sustainable program results.
  • Research, benchmark and report on best and cutting-edge practices for development planning of knowledge products and systems.
  • Participate as a resource person in capacity building initiatives to enhance the competencies of clients/stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings and policy dialogues on issues related to resilience and humanitarian action in the Lake Chad Basin.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Chief Transport Section or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Transport Assistant will:

Raise notification and service order for the workshop and warehouse to release spare parts required to workshop mechanics and motor transport officers or perform maintenance services;

Managing the reception, production control and output of the workshop of all vehicles within the mission;

Monitoring the overall performance of workshop, ensuring the appropriate maintenance of individual types based on the age and technical performance of each make/model;

Ensuring quality control of repairs and maintenance and safety condition of the vehicles.

Identifying and monitoring the requirement for workshop tools/special equipment necessary for the efficient production;

Coordinate with the warehouse on the regular inventory and the availability of spare parts in stocks;

Oversee the workshop records in Umoja, prepares financial and budget summaries, writes reports and submits them to Fleet maintenance unit for review;

Determines generic technical specifications, estimates quantity (number of units), drafts proposals for requisitions for spare parts, tools and equipment in accordance with the UN procurement procedures;

Monitors the constant availability of vehicles for temporary assignment in support of one-off and emergency;

Conducts distribution of non-expendable transport assets;

Conducts bi-annual physical inventory of non-expendable transport assets in accordance with the established procedures and deadlines;

Maintains records for non-expendable transport assets, including records in fleet management databases;

Participates in the development of the Transport Section’s annual budget proposals;

Processes the vehicle write-off cases in accordance with the established procedures and deadlines

Conduct periodic, physical inspections on vehicles, to ensure they are maintained correctly, daily cleanliness (indoor and outdoor of the vehicle) and to detect damage and loses as well as for day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle: check oil, water, battery, tires, etc.;

Perform a variety of additional, ad-hoc tasks as and when required by the Chief Transport Officer and/ or his designated as required in accordance with UN policies and procedures.

Technical/Vocational diploma

High School diploma/certificate plus relevant certification/diploma or other academic qualifications or training in mechanical or automotive engineering maintenance.

At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in repair, maintenance, and operation of MHE/CM and vehicles, or other mechanical equipment maintenance and repairs. This period can include formal nationally recognized and accredited apprenticeship programme; Three years of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair is required. Sous la supervision directe du Team Leader Gouvernance, le/la Volontaire Nations Unies (VNU) sera chargé d’appuyer la mise en œuvre et le suivi du portefeuille gouvernance. De manière spécifique, sa mission vise à :

1. Assister l’équipe gouvernance dans la mise en œuvre de ses activités d’appui au gouvernement et la société civile. Il/elle soutiendra à ce titre, le suivi de l’exécution des projets, l’élaboration des notes, de termes de référence, l’élaboration et le suivi des dossiers de paiements aux fournisseurs ou consultants ainsi que d’autres travaux en lien avec la gestion de projets ;

2. Développer, en collaboration avec les autres membres de l’équipe et les partenaires clés du projet, les plans de travail annuels et autres documents de suivi dans le domaine de la gouvernance ;

3. Appuyer la mise en œuvre et suivre les activités du plan de travail du projet en collaboration avec les partenaires institutionnels;

4. Soutenir l’Unité gouvernance dans la coordination, le suivi et l’atteinte de l’ODD 16 ;

5. Surveiller l’exécution des budgets et des dépenses ainsi qu’assurer le suivi du delivery des projets :

8. Elaborer et fournir des rapports de qualité sur les réalisations et résultats des projets ;

9. Participer et appuyer l’organisation d’événements, de formations, d’ateliers en relation avec les partenaires ciblés du gouvernement, de la société civile et du secteur privé ;

10. Contribuer à bâtir des partenariats et des stratégies de mobilisation de ressources dans le secteur de la gouvernance ;

11. Assurer le suivi du partenariat avec les agences onusiennes à travers le suivi des plans de travail et bilan annuel ;

12. Fournir des contributions aux documents pertinents tels que les discours, les notes d’informations, les notes et rapports de progrès, etc.

13. Fournir des contributions aux activités de plaidoyer, de renforcement des connaissances et de communication ;

18. Consulter la documentation existante : bulletins d’information, documents de projet et rapports pour mieux connaitre les projets exécutés par l’Unité de gouvernance ;

19. Participer, si nécessaire, à l’organisation de missions sur le terrain ou à l’étranger ;

20. Accomplir toute autre tâche que le superviseur juge nécessaire pour la mise en œuvre des activités du pilier de la gouvernance.
