  • Participates actively in organizing medical referrals, casualty and medical evacuation of mission personnel.;
  • Ensures the provision of health education to civilian mission personnel;
  • Participates actively in addressing environmental and occupational health issues;
  • Participates in the planning, management and implementation of adequate infection control measures in the mission health facilities at all levels;
  • Provides relevant public health guidance to the facility management team in the mission and contractors providing catering, sanitation and fumigation services at the UN camps within Somalia;
  • Ensures timely submission of weekly and monthly medical reports from Jowhar to the CMO’s office;
  • Reports to the CMO or his OIC on all clinical activities at the duty station on weekly and monthly basis; Carry out any other tasks within the mission as may be assigned by the CMO.
Master degree or equivalent

Under the overall guidance of the Senior Administrative Officer; the direct supervision of the Welfare Officer, and working closely with the UN Somalia Staff Welfare and Recreation Committee the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Assess, identify, monitor and report on the avenues for positive outlets for recreation and wellbeing of UN personnel in Somalia.
  • Recommend welfare approaches for positive engagement by UN personnel.
  • Organize and deliver welfare events, thereby improving the recreational and social opportunities for staff.
  • Develop and deliver programs to increase adjustment to mission life as well as increase cooperation between sections, sectors and all categories of personnel.
  • Coordinate activities with the UN military and police Welfare focal points with regard to social, cultural and recreational events.

  • Prepare Grant analysis, donor profiles and briefing notes in preparation of meetings and/or relations with donors.

  • Develop a system for centralized recording and monitoring system of the Country Office fundraising activities.

  • Bajo la supervisión directa de la Oficial de Protección de la Niñez del estado Bolívar, llevará a cabo las siguientes tareas:

  • Preparar un cronograma y plan de trabajo con la orientación de su supervisor,
  • Apoyar la gestión de los programas, seguimiento y entrega de resultados en articulación con responsable del área.
  • Apoyar técnica y operacionalmente la ejecución de los programas en articulación con responsable del área.

  • Reportar las situaciones que incrementen los riesgos de protección entre niños, niñas, adolescentes y mujeres en la frontera.
  • Apoyar en acciones de monitoreo donde se incluyan visitas de seguimiento, utilizando herramientas con contrapartes para fortalecer la implementación técnica.
  • En coordinación con el Especialista de Protección y la Coordinadora de UNICEF en Santa Elena de Uairén, participar en reuniones técnicas, comunicarse y negociar con contrapartes estatales, sociedad civil, y otras agencias del Sistema de Naciones Unidas.
  • Identificar oportunidades prográmaticas para contribuir en la protección de la niñez.
  • Preparar informes técnicos o materiales informativos, y contribuir con insumos a la revisión de documentos entregados por las contrapartes.
  • Contribuir a la visibilización de las acciones en el área de protección de la niñez con apoyo de UNICEF.
  • Promover buenas prácticas para apoyar la implementación y entrega de resultados de programas concretos y sostenibles.
  • Realizar y aprobar los cursos mandatorios de UNICEF.
Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Profesional con título universitario en estudios internacionales, derecho, psicología, sociología, derecho internacional, trabajo social u otro campo de las ciencias sociales.
  • Conocimientos técnicos en el área de protección de la niñez.

  • In cooperation with the different project specialists, the projects assistance and liaison officer will support projects logistical, administrative and financial needs, and support the outreach to local institutions and local communities. Thanks to his/her knowledge of the Hodeidah governorate, the incumbent will assist projects in ensuring local institutions and local communities are engaged in the design and implementation of projects, and their feedback is appropriately heard and incorporated. He/She will also support the organization of local-level workshops and awareness campaigns, support the implementation of spot checks and to address beneficiaries’ grievances.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Programme Coordinator or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Project Support Officer will:

  • Assist the GMCP programme coordinator in the development, implementation and evaluation of the programme activities under the Global Maritime Crime Programme;
  • Assist the GMCP programme coordinator and other team members in identifying technical assistance needs for capacity building and develop sustainable strategies to reform and strengthen the capacity of maritime law enforcement and other criminal justice authorities in the region;
  • Assist the programme coordinator and other team members in project/programme and/or budget revisions, the preparation and dissemination of costed work plans, terms of references and other related project documentation on maritime crime and detention and transfer;
  • Support the conduct of research and collation of information on maritime crime and the impact on littoral states in the Indian Ocean.
  • Contribute with substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions, including the review and analysis of emerging issues and trends, participation in evaluations or research activities and studies;
  • Contribute to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, briefing notes, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc., relating to maritime crime issues in the region;
  • Provide administrative and substantive support to the GMCP programme coordinator in view of consultative and other meetings, workshops, conferences, etc., including proposing agenda topics, identifying and proposing participants, preparing background documents and presentations, handling logistics, etc.;
  • Assist the GMCP programme coordinator with administrative processes related to the procurement of equipment and services including preparation of purchase orders, contracts for consultants, related payment requests, and monitoring and follow-up on such requests in line with UN financial rules and regulations;
  • Support field missions to locations the region where GMCP carries out programme activities, including provision of substantive and administrative support, data collection, etc.;
