Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Livelihoods and Economic Inclusion Unit, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support UNHCR in establishing and maintaining relationships with selected government entities at the national, department and municipality levels, private sector actors (companies, business associations…), academic institutions and non-governmental / civil society organizations.
  • Participate in representation of UNHCR in inter-agency meetings and other coordination fora related to livelihoods and labor market access.
  • Assist in developing and implementing UNHCR’s strategy for livelihoods and economic inclusion (including promotion of labor market access and employment, entrepreneurship, vocational training and financial inclusion) for persons of concern (Venezuelan refugees and migrants, Colombian returnees and IDPs, and host communities), including innovating and/or piloting new initiatives and activities.
  • Provide knowledge management support: tracking information; monitoring implementation of project activities in close coordination with Field Offices and other units in Bogota; responding to requests; and/or drafting, contributing to and/or editing documents (reports, fact sheets, etc.) for donors, private sector actors, internal agency and/or UN system requests.
  • Support the organization, logistics, communication, implementation and follow-up of advocacy and activities carried out by UNHCR in the areas of livelihoods (including access to employment, entrepreneurship and value-chain engagement, vocational training, and financial inclusion), private sector engagement and prevention of xenophobia.
  • Assist to draft, implement and/or oversee Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for livelihoods and economic inclusion activities. In close coordination with Field Offices and other UNHCR units in Bogota, promote compliance of staff and implementing partners with global livelihoods policies and standards of professional integrity.
  • Participate in initiatives to build capacity in authorities, relevant institutions, private sector and NGOs to strengthen national related legislation that promotes sustainable livelihoods and procedures for IDPs and Refugees
  • Stay abreast of political, social, business, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on livelihoods and economic inclusion, including opportunities for income generation.

Under the direct supervision of the Child Protection Officer, national UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Contribute to the design and preparation of monitoring activities of assigned programme(s) in the Child Protection sector in southeast Turkey.
  • Undertake regular program field visits and exchange information with partners/stakeholders to gather the necessary information to assess progress. Report on critical issues, bottlenecks, challenges and delays, in order for UNICEF and partners to take timely action to achieve results.
  • Produce regular and timely reports on monitoring results. Organize data and information, prepare and maintain records, documents and control plans for the monitoring of protection programme implementation
  • Analyze data to monitor progress in the achievement of programme objectives. Research and contribute to the development and/or introduction and documentation of new approaches, methods and practices for field­level monitoring of programmes.
  • Assist with the development of appropriate communication and information material related to programme progresses.

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Political Affairs Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Analysing data using statistical methods; Identifying relationships, trends, and patterns, or draw conclusions from relevant Security Council datasets; Modelling processes and performing exploratory data analysis and producing visualizations; Performing decision analysis.
  • Develop custom decision models to empower UN senior leadership to make effective strategic decisions.
  • Build a sustainable and cost-effective partnerships with interested external experts in the field, such as universities, think tanks, academic research institutes, foundations as well as relevant UN offices as well as other international and regional organizations.
  • Design and promote research products on WPS issues and topics relevant to the implementation of UNSCR 1325 (2000).
  • Design user-friendly research products for social media purposes to promote the implementation of DPPA mandates.
  • Monitor and analyse political developments in Security Council and identify political and legal trends.

  • Contribuer à la conception des projets et programme et des plans de suivi (sur base des indicateurs SMART) du programme et des projets ;
  • Mettre en place un mécanisme de coordination pour la mise en œuvre du plan de suivi / évaluation.
  • Participer au processus de planification des programmes et projets, en donnant un appui technique au développement des théories du changement et cadres logiques des interventions.
  • Appuyer l’application structurelle du système RBM (result based management) à travers toutes les unités et projets, aussi bien concernant les résultats des projets, programmes ;
  • Assurer l’accompagnement, la formation et le suivi des experts suivi-évaluation dépendant des projets et des structures nationales de tutelle du programme ;

Evaluation des projets :

  • Participer à la rédaction des termes de référence (TDR) des évaluations décentralisées ;
  • Produire des feedbacks pertinents sur les rapports d’évaluation décentralisé
  • Fournir une assistance aux projets dans la préparation des plans de réponses du management aux évaluations décentralisées ;
  • Veiller à la mise en œuvre des actions inscrites dans les plans de réponse du management aux évaluations décentralisées dans la plateforme ERC
  • Executer tout autres tâches en lien avec le travail

En plus de ce qui précède, les Volontaires des Nations Unies sont censés :

  • Renforcer leurs connaissances et compréhension du concept du volontariat en lisant la documentation mise à disposition par le programme VNU, les publications externes et prendre activement part aux activités du programme VNU, par exemple s’impliquer dans les activités commémoratives de la Journée internationale des Volontaires (JIV), le 5 décembre.

1. Delivery, monitoring and reporting of Climate Promise (60 %)
Act as (Multi) Country Office Focal Point for the UNDP Climate Promise;
If/as required, follow-up on government response to the official letters sent by UNDP in mid-December 2019;
Based on the requested support from the governments, prepare draft country work-plans and budgets (as per template provided by UNDP HQ). Based on feed-back from governments and relevant UNDP offices (e.g. Suva, Bangkok, New York), prepare final version of country work-plans and budgets;

Within the terms of the organization’s delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the Head of the RCO, the Communication Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

Development and successful implementation of a strategic communications plan:

  • Develop a strategic communications plan in consultation with the communications officer of the RCO;
  • Collaborate with Spotlight Initiative (SI) implementing agencies to ensure a synergized approach for all communications related to the SI portfolio;
  • Promote trilingual communications, which is sensitive and effective across different constituencies.

Support consultation and outreach initiatives:

  • Provide logistical support to the organization of stakeholder consultations and workshops;
  • Record discussions and key decisions taken during meetings, and ensure timely sharing of notes etc.;
  • Prepare updates for the SI website on key issues;
  • Work closely with the Communications colleagues and relevant government partners to prepare for media events/briefings.

Ensure SI results and events are promoted amongst key stakeholders and in the media:

  • Establish a network of Communications officers amongst the Recipient UN Organisations with whom to liaise for the collection of stories on SI results;
  • Work with UN agencies to ensure stories are regularly available on results i.e. human interest stories, interviews, case studies, project launches, donor visits etc;
  • Ensure that key lessons and best-practices are shared;
  • Liaise with SI and UN agencies to agree on common approaches to visibility items – i.e. logos etc;
  • Drawing on the information collected in annual/semi-annual reports etc, design and produce updates that can be shared with donors in country (i.e. a brochure on results in Haiti etc.);
  • Monitor media for SI related coverage and provide necessary analysis;
  • Support all SI related media events.

Ensure development and effective management of PBF and SI related webpages, and knowledge products:

  • Ensure all SI key events/launches/activities are profiled on the website;
  • Maintain a library of photographs/videos etc. from SI projects/events;
  • Support the development and management of relevant knowledge products.
