Minas Gerais, Brazil: The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme in Brazil and the State of Minas Gerais, through the Department of Human Rights, Social Participation and Citizenship, have signed an agreement to establish a Volunteer Network in Minas Gerais.
The project seeks to promote the creation, structuring and implementation of a Volunteer Network in Minas Gerais, through the joint action of partner institutions, in order to contribute to the promotion of social participation and collective solidarity for local transformation.
Volunteerism was vital in efforts to develop South Sudan, workers with a Unity State organization said today during a meeting organized by UNMISS in the state capital Bentiu.
The volunteers or social mobilizers associated with the South Sudan Trust Rehabilitation and Development Organization (SSTDO) were attending a forum led by UNMISS Public Information Officer and UN Volunteer Anna Adhikhari (Poland).
Last July, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme in Uzbekistan joined forces to launch a two and half year project supporting volunteers and other young enthusiasts who want to make a positive impact in their communities.
