Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Governance Team Leader, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support the Governance Team Leader in providing quality assurance of and coordinating the projects related to social cohesion and civic engagement, including ongoing projects on preventing violent extremism, community policing, support to civil society and youth inclusion and planned projects on Women, Peace and Development, among other
  • Support the establishment and strengthening of strategic partnerships (intra-UN, national and international partners) and contribute to resource mobilization for the social cohesion and civic engagement portfolio
  • Facilitate the creation and management of knowledge in the field of social cohesion and civic engagement

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Bachelor’s degree in law, Political Science, International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies or related area.

Demonstrated interest and/or experience in the areas of conflict transformation, prevention, inclusion of young people and / or the fight against violent extremism and strengthening social cohesion; Motivated to contribute towards peace and development and to serve others; Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills; Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team; Flexible and open to learning and new experiences; Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions; Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded; Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others).
