Call for volunteer representatives at the Global Technical Meeting

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is looking for 15 volunteers to represent the volunteer community globally and amplify volunteer voices during the Global Technical Meeting (GTM 2020) on 'Reimagining Volunteering for the 2030 Agenda'. These volunteers will also be invited to support the conduct of the meeting, which is a virtual event convening mid-July 2020. UNV calls for applicants from all over the world, of all ages, genders and abilities. Read more below on how to submit your video application.

What does volunteering for the GTM entail?

The selected volunteers will be given roles including, but not limited to, the following:

    • Participate in the live panel discussion of the inaugural session: 'A Global Invitation to Reimagine Volunteering for the 2030 Agenda’.
    • Participate in live chats and panel discussions, as part of the GTM 2020 sessions.
    • Support the GTM 2020 as facilitators and manage virtual breaks.
    • Read out the Call to Action in the closing session of the meeting.

    How do I apply?

    • Submit a one-minute video of yourself in which you introduce yourself and volunteering efforts and explain what ‘Reimagining Volunteering for the 2030 Agenda’ means to you.
    • The video should be submitted to Facebook or Twitter, tagging UNV and using the hashtags #volunteerSDGs and #VolunteerVideos. Make sure that the post is set to public so that others can see your video.
    • Each applicant can submit one video. Volunteers who submit more than one video will be disqualified from the process.
    • The deadline for video submissions is 9 June 2020!
    • The video application is open to volunteers of all ages and from all over the world.

    What are the selection criteria?

    • The applicant must currently be a volunteer.
    • Potential contributions by the applicant should be relevant to the theme of the GTM 2020, 'Reimagining Volunteering for the 2030 Agenda'.
    • The applicant must demonstrate a strong ability to speak publicly and engage an audience.
    • Selected volunteers must represent all regions of the UN Regional Commissions, and reflect gender balance and diversity.
