On 23 June, UN Volunteers India in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MoYAS) and UNDP, welcomed a mixed group of stakeholders, ranging from young volunteers, academics, civil society representatives to private sector and media associates, to launch the 2015 version of the State of the World's Volunteerism Report. The report’s findings were presented by SWVR lead author Amanda Mukwashi, who was joint by Mr. Rajeev Gupta, Secretary, MoYAS, UNV Deputy Executive Coordinator Ms. Rosemary Kalapurakal, UN Resident Coordinator a.i. Mr. Louis George Arsenault, and Dr. Rajesh Tandon from Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), who all shared very valuable insights on their experiences regarding the contribution of volunteering. This was followed by a lively discussion on the key role volunteerism plays in facilitating sustainable development and particularly good governance. Our short video recap gives you some first-hand impressions directly from the event. The main idea behind the SWVR series is to provide a global review and concrete facts and figures on the contribution of volunteering. Please make sure and check out the report online, familiarize yourself with its findings and be well equipped the next time someone asks you about the difference volunteering makes!
