The Golden Book of the City of Bonn, Germany has been signed by world leaders and distinguished personalities throughout the years. The most recent honour was bestowed on the Executive Coordinator of UNV, Ms Flavia Pansieri. Ms Pansieri was invited to sign the prestigious book in recognition of her steadfast leadership in the growth and development of the United Nations in Bonn.
The Golden Book of the City of Bonn, Germany has been signed by world leaders and distinguished personalities throughout the years. The most recent honour was bestowed on the Executive Coordinator of the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, Ms Flavia Pansieri. Ms Pansieri was invited to sign the prestigious book in recognition of her steadfast leadership in the growth and development of the United Nations in Bonn.
In his address on the occasion, the Lord Mayor of Bonn, Mr Jürgen Nimptsch, stated, "through her drive and charisma, Ms. Pansieri has encouraged all partners involved to make the UN in Bonn a real centre of sustainable development."
After the elegant ceremony in the Gobelin Room of the Bonn City Hall, Ms Pansieri expressed humble words of thanks for the honour. She explained, "Bonn has become a real home for me. My UN colleagues will attest to the fact that we all have been taken in by the city with great warmth and hospitality. Bonn is our home "along with being the seat of many United Nations organizations."
Ms Pansieri took the helm of UNV in February 2008. She also heads the management of the UN Campus in Bonn as UNV was the first UN organization that moved to Bonn. Before then, Ms Pansieri was Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Yemen. Ms Pansieri retires from service to the United Nations at the end of 2012.
