UNV partnering with Finland

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme has been partnering with the Government of Finland, represented by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, since 1974. Finland provides support to the full funding of UN Volunteer assignments for Finnish nationals through two different departments: the Department for Development Policy and since 2016, the Political Department/Unit for Security Policy and Crisis Management.

During 2024, 37 Finnish nationals served as UN Volunteers, 32 of whom were funded by the Government of Finland.

The Finnish Government was also one of the 124 co-sponsors of the 2018 UN General Assembly Resolution on Volunteering for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2018.

For further information, visit the websites of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Department for Development Policy and Political Department/Unit for Security Policy and Crisis Management of Finland. Also refer to UNV's Annual Report 2024, including our Special Voluntary Fund and Full Funding reports.
