Voices from China: "I am proud to be a UN Volunteer"

In 2022, a historic number of 131 Chinese nationals served as UN Volunteers with 23 UN partners in 28 countries. Of these, 64 per cent (or 84) served as national UN Volunteers in China and 19 per cent (or 25) were fully funded by the Government of China. Twelve UN entities hosted 87 UN Volunteers in China, 68 per cent of them female and 34 per cent youth.  Meet some of these volunteers in the below video.

Through their assignments, the UN Volunteers provided technical cooperation, public information and administrative-related expertise. They served as project management and communications officers, programme coordination and research assistants, as well as event and community development coordinators.

They contributed to sustainable development in poverty alleviation, gender equality, environment and climate action, community development and youth engagement, health and COVID-19, in addition to partnerships, innovation and the promotion of volunteerism.
