Josías Osbeli Vazquez Bamaca: Championing inclusion

Josías Osbeli Vazquez Bamaca was a UN Volunteer Human Rights Associate and Accessibility Specialist with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Guatemala from 2022 to 2023.

Josías is visually impaired. He contributed his expertise in digital accessibility and accessible web development.

He believes in championing inclusion and the profound commitment to protecting and promoting human rights, as established in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

“There are guidelines that determine how digital content – video, audio recording or text – should be constructed for persons with disabilities, whether their disabilities are visual, auditory, physical or intellectual,” says Josías. “In my assignment as a UN Volunteer, I helped OHCHR in the implementation of these guidelines in reports, documents, audiovisual materials and virtual events organized by the office.”

After ending his UN Volunteer assignment, Josías manages two projects – an inclusive academy and an inclusive job platform.
